"But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions."

- James Madison, Federalist No. 51

Principles

"The act of defending any of the cardinal virtues has today all the exhilaration of a vice."

- G.K. Chesterton; A Defense of Humilities, The Defendant, 1901

Life Affirming
Human life begins at conception and each human being should be welcomed into life and protected under the law.

Protecting the Second Amendment
U.S. Citizens who have not been convicted of a felony have the right to own and carry a firearm.

Private Property Rights
I fully support a Virginia constitutional amendment protecting private property rights and ensuring just compensation for individuals whose property is subject to eminent domain seizure for public use.

Constitutionally Limited Government
The Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution are among the most influential political documents in human history. The concept of government as the protector of God-given human rights is fundamental to our system of government, as is the constitutional constraint on both the tyranny of the majority and the excesses of political class.

Republican Party Governance
We should be the party of honesty and transparency in how our party leaders make decisions. The Republican party best represents the principles of liberty and we should welcome and recruit everyone who shares those principles to our party. I also believe that Republican nominees should be chosen by those who share the principles of our party.

I agree with the RPV Creed

We Believe:

  • That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice,

  • That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,

  • That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government,

  • That the Federal Government must preserve individual liberty by observing Constitutional limitations,

  • That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense,

  • That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation
